A good day at the market

Kraftbomb was great today; heaps of people, a great vibe and good sales. Apart from the obvious (selling), I love going there for the sense of community between both the crafters and the buyers. It feels right to be selling directly to your customers: it's cheaper, friendlier and you get good feedback.

I arrived a bit early, so managed to get a photo of my table this time. I have so much stock at the moment (lots of crafting and poor sales for two months!), the table was pretty full. Here's a closer look, you can see the very practical little display box (holding the peg dolls) that Craig built me. Flash, hey. Those little girls' bags in the front were very popular today; I'll be making some more this week for the next market.

That's the Devonport Craft Market, on this coming Sunday. It's a new market, and looks very promising. Have a look at the names here, you'll recognise some from Kraftbomb.

I have had the most amazing news: both my sisters are coming to visit us in just 6 weeks! They briefly thought about keeping it a secret, but I'm so glad they didn't. Now I have all that time to enjoy looking forward to it as well as the actual visit.

Danelle is a glass artist and Wilna makes beautiful beaded tops, books and bags; no doubt you'll see some of their products at the June Kraftomb! And I will be there on Sunday with a whole table to myself; a first, but hopefully a good move. I have so many different products and I always find it hard to display them properly, so I've made a real effort with stands and things this time. Will try to take a photo. Have a great weekend :)

Of kings and wild things

It's birthday month: the boys, the coffee group friends, me, my mum-in-law, even my blog; everybody seems to have a birthday in the next month. Daniel turns 4 and Joshua 2, and I've decided to make them a wolf tail and a crown each, just like their favourite little character Max wears. In the book, and soon to be released movie 'Where the wild things are' of course! Do yourself a favour and watch the trailer; it looks like it will be a fantastic movie. Daniel and I have probably seen it 10 times already.

While I was on a roll with the crowns, I made a little friend her own birthday crown and bag to put it into. Expect to see more bags and maybe even crowns at this coming Sunday's Kraftbomb, and then at the first Devonport Craft Market on May 3rd. I'm very excited to see what the new market will be like; there's apparently been a lot of interest in it. A few of my Kraftbomb friends will be there, like Ran with Scissors and Paperfish, but there's also a lot of new names and talent. Remember to put it in your diary...

My workspace

Hope you're having a nice long weekend. We've been busy with the last of our recent rearranging. A couple of weeks ago, we moved the boys into our old room, we got Daniel's room and Joshua's became my workroom. Yes! No more working on our bed/cutting into the duvet cover/finding pins in the sheets! On Saturday Craig built me some good shelves in my workroom, and now it's as tidy and organised as it will ever be. It's great having space for everything; the shelves and drawers and baskets are all full of bits that belong together. The best part of this room is having my own table to work on. I'm sure I'm not the only crafter whose had to share the kitchen table with the rest of the family :)

It's funny, I've only just realised I have a thing for baskets. Looking around the room I see seven old woven baskets and suitcases. That's got to be a collection. I even have a wicker reading chair that I sometimes use to just sit in and appreciate my lovely space that is all my own.
