Kowhai...

...is yellow, whero is red, kakariki green. I didn't grow up with this song, but Daniel's been singing it so much, I might as well have. To celebrate all the new flowers out, I've made a couple of pouches for my shop update, one with Kowhai flowers and the other with Kaka beak. They're made using a tea towel on the front and curtain on the back, both vintage of course.

Hazel sings it a lot too, but then she asks me what a colour is if she gets stuck and I'm so ignorant! I need to learn it for myself and not through her :) The one I love the most is mawhero for pink. It's just so gorgeously logical for it to be 'white red' Plus I like saying whero because it rolls off the tongue so nicely with the little catch at the r/d sound. And of course now I know why the cheese is called Kikorangi :)
