Mac and me

It's been a busy month, February.  The main reason for my blog absence has ironically been a computer. Not just any though... Here he is, in the little nook behind the door of our lounge, printer cables showing and all. Sadly no beautiful streamlined designer workspace to show, but I have been making it a bit more practical, as I'll show you in a minute.

Mac and I have been on, shall we say, honeymoon for this month. He's attractive and smart, comes without all the baggage my ex still has and has such a fresh outlook on everything.  The problem is, I don't speak his language very well.  I'm learning slowly, but it can be frustrating when your freshly-saved Photoshop file has vanished into thin air and you can't find it anywhere... That's what we need to work on now, understanding each over better.  I really love him though; I feel it's going to last. (It had better; considering his price tag...)

Anyhow, let's move on to craft; that's why you're really here, I expect.  The little table he sits on is perfect for the small space we use as an office, but it was looking a bit tired.   I covered the top with a cheap vinyl tablecloth from Spotlight (couldn't find any oilcloth with the right colors that day), screwed on a metal spice rack onto the back for all the cords and chargers, etc. (photo hidden for now by Mac), and made this little quilted bag for my Bamboo tablet.  It hangs on the side of the table and keeps my tablet safely out of the way when I don't need it.  A very practical little space.

The bag looks a bit rubbish hanging like that, so here it is all flat and pretty.  All those patchwork bits came out of my scrap bag and I even did a bit of hand-quilting on it.

That's it for now; the rest of this week is going to be a bit busy.  If you're in Auckland this weekend, come and look at the regional NZAA tree-climbing competition in Western Park (northern end) on Saturday; it's a great chance to see some world-class climbers competing.

I've also got some work for sale at the Affair of the Heart exhibition (art fair, ok) at Northcote College on Onewa Rd, on Saturday and Sunday. There was very good art for sale there last year, so it's a great option if you're looking for some local art.

Have a good week everyone!
